What are your favorite rituals around the new year? For me, it coincides with a slower pace at work, so I find myself reading old articles I’ve cut out, reorganizing my desk, reading the new Portland Business Journal Book of Lists (which, I will not lie, is one of my most prized possessions), and attempting to goal set for the new year. Professionally, I hope that I continue to face challenges. They’re what help make me stronger – a better employee, a better colleague, a better client. That, and in my line of work, businesses with challenges are my bread and butter – it’s what I do and do well, and love!
Personally, I don’t really need any challenges this year. 🙂 My goal is to try and really shut off work once I leave it so I can focus on all the wonderful things around me. I take Portland and Oregon for granted too much. This city and state are beautiful places with amazing people and geography and activities. I hope to explore more in the coming year. I hope also to travel abroad more. 2009 took us to London and Kenya and 2010 will take us to Kauai and (hopefully) Casablanca for a wedding!
I wish you all a happy and successful (by whatever measure) 2010!
(Now, if only we could get a snow day here in the next week, that would help delay my new year a little more… :))
